Kathryn “Kay” Gale Peschka Brunson
On Wednesday, August 3, 2022, Kathryn “Kay” Gale Peschka Brunson, wife and mother of three children, passed away at the age of 72.
Kay was born on November 7, 1949, in Houston, Texas, to John and Pauline (Becker) Peschka. In high school, she was a member of The Scottish Brigade and The Austin Chorale. After high school, she wanted to be a secretary, so she attended Durham Business College in Houston, Texas. On August 14, 1970, she married Jesse David “Dave” Brunson.
In 1979, Kay and Dave moved to Tyler, Texas. There they raised one daughter, Kari; and two sons, Brian and Marc. For 25 years, they owned Brunson Office Products and Teaching Aids.
In 1997, the family moved to Oklahoma City. Kay worked as a secretary at Church of the Resurrection but also helped people who would come in needing assistance. After working there for about 20 years, she assisted Dave with their company.
Kay loved Jesus with all her heart. She was always warm and loving to everyone she met. She was kind-hearted and compassionate and generous. Her smile would light up a room. She greatly loved her family and had a wonderful sense of humor. She was creative, and she loved gardening and art and was a fantastic writer and piano player. She loved to sing in the church choir. Everyone who knew her loved her; and everyone was a friend, not a stranger.
Kay was preceded in death by her father, John; her mother, Pauline; and her brother, John Paul. She is survived by her husband, Dave; her three children, Kari, Brian, and Marc, and their spouses, Darrell, Missy, and Jamie, respectively; seven grandchildren, Addison, Colby, Brock, Bryce, Kylynn, Kynlee, and Bryden; a brother-in-law, Doug Hicks; and nephews Curtis, Jeff, and Michael Hicks.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, August 12, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. at Chisholm Creek Baptist Church in Edmond, Oklahoma. Flowers may be sent to Chisholm Creek Baptist Church; 17600 N. Western Ave.; Edmond, OK 73012.

Kathy (or Katherine as I knew her) was such a kind and caring friend. We shared many fun times in both junior and senior high school. Her smiling face will be missed by many. Praying for her family during this difficult time.
